Manners Classes

Our goal is to make training enjoyable for both dogs and their humans, promoting lifelong learning, clearer communication, and a stronger bond.

Our positive reinforcement, force-free manners classes are designed to help dogs and their owners build strong communication, trust, and lasting skills. From puppy foundations to advanced obedience, each class focuses on creating a confident, well-mannered companion through fun, reward-based learning.

  • Puppy Classes emphasize early socialization, confidence building, and basic life skills to set your pup up for success.

  • Beginning Obedience classes cover essential cues like sit, stay, recall, leash walking, and polite greetings.

  • Intermediate & Advanced Levels refine focus, reliability, and off-leash control while strengthening teamwork and responsiveness in more challenging environments.

AKC STAR Puppy Preschool

This class is for puppies that are 8-16 weeks old. It is designed to help you build a strong foundation for lifelong learning, confidence, and good manners. Each session includes hands-on practice, socialization opportunities, and clear guidance so you can continue training at home. This class also helps prepare you and your puppy to earn the AKC STAR Puppy distinction, setting you both up for success in future training and real-world manners.​ This class covers: Focus; Teaching your puppy to give attention to you, even with some distractions around. Positions; Introducing basic cues like sit, down, and stand to build basic manners. Stay/Wait; Practicing patience and impulse control with short-duration exercises. Loose Leash Walking; Learning how to walk politely without pulling, making walks enjoyable for both of you. Heel; Introducing the position. Polite Greetings; Helping your puppy learn to greet people calmly without jumping. Vet/Groomer Visits; Positive exposure and cooperative care techniques to reduce stress during checkups and grooming. Recall; Building a reliable recall through fun games. Impulse Control and Leave It; Fun exercises to practice self-control, such as waiting at doors or leaving items when asked.

AKC STAR Puppy Plus

This class is designed for puppies who have graduated from Puppy Preschool or for puppies 16 weeks to 12 months. STAR Puppy Plus is designed to strengthen your puppy’s foundation in manners, confidence, and focus while navigating the challenges of adolescence. Each session includes hands-on practice, real-world socialization to help you and your puppy succeed both in and outside of class. This class also helps prepare you and your dog for the AKC STAR Puppy test and future obedience or sport training. This class covers: Focus; Strengthening your puppy’s ability to pay attention and respond even with distractions present. Positions; Refining cues like sit, down, and stand with better understanding and responsiveness. Stay/Wait; Building longer durations with more distractions. Loose Leash Walking; Developing polite walking skills and attention on leash in a variety of environments. Heel; Practicing more consistent heel position and engagement with some walking. Polite Greetings; Reinforcing calm, friendly interactions with people. Vet/Groomer Visits; Continuing cooperative care exercises to help your dog remain comfortable during handling and exams. Recall; Strengthening recall skills through fun, rewarding exercises and games. Impulse Control & Leave It; Advancing self-control around distractions, food, and exciting situations.

Beginning Obedience

Our Beginning Obedience class is designed for dogs 8 months and older to help you develop strong communication skills and a solid foundation for good manners in everyday life. Using positive reinforcement and force-free methods, we focus on building understanding, confidence, and focus while keeping training fun for both ends of the leash. This class covers: Focus & Engagement; Teach your dog to pay attention to you, even with distractions present. Build reliable eye contact and attention that becomes the foundation for all future training. Positions (Sit, Down, Stand); Learn clear cues and smooth transitions between positions to improve responsiveness and body awareness. Stay & Wait; Develop patience and self-control as your dog learns to hold a position or wait calmly until released. Impulse Control; Help your dog make better choices, resist temptation, and remain calm around exciting stimuli like food, toys, or other dogs. Recall; Build a reliable recall through positive associations and fun exercises, ensuring your dog happily returns to you every time. Loose Leash Walking & Heel; Teach your dog to walk politely on leash without pulling, and introduce basic heel position. Polite Greetings; Practice calm and friendly interactions with people. Vet & Groomer Handling; Get your dog comfortable with being gently handled, touched, and examined to make vet visits and grooming experiences less stressful for everyone.

Intermediate Obedience

Our Intermediate Obedience class takes the skills learned in Beginning Obedience to the next level, helping you and your dog build greater reliability, focus, and teamwork in more challenging environments. Using positive reinforcement and clear communication, we strengthen existing behaviors while introducing new exercises that promote precision and confidence. At the end of the course, teams will have the opportunity to practice the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test, applying their skills in a real-world setting and preparing for official certification if desired.  This class covers: Positions; improved responsiveness, duration, and smooth transitions. Stay & Wait; Strengthen duration, distractions, and distance to help your dog hold position reliably in real-life scenarios. Loose Leash Walking & Heel; Increase focus and control during walks, adding direction changes, distractions, and longer heeling patterns. Recall; Build an even more dependable recall with higher distractions and farther distances. Impulse Control; Practice calm, thoughtful behavior around exciting stimuli like people, food, and other dogs. Polite Greetings; Reinforce calm, controlled interactions when meeting people. Cooperative Care; Introduce more advanced handling skills for vet and grooming care. Instructor approval required.

Advanced Obedience

Our Advanced Obedience class is designed for teams who have completed Intermediate Obedience and are ready to take their skills to the next level. This class focuses on reliability, precision, and teamwork in real-world environments, helping you and your dog perform confidently under distraction and in public settings. Throughout the course, we’ll work on exercises aligned with the AKC Community Canine (CGCA) and Urban Canine Good Citizen (CGCU) tests. By the end of the class, you and your dog will have the skills and confidence to take advanced CGC evaluations, showcasing your teamwork and your dog’s exceptional manners in public. This class covers: Advanced Heelwork; Master consistent position and attention with turns, pace changes, and distractions. Extended Stays & Waits; Increase distance, duration, and distractions. Reliable Recalls; Reinforce fast, enthusiastic, and consistent recalls from greater distances and amid distractions. Impulse Control & Focus; Maintain engagement and composure around food, people, dogs, and environmental challenges. Public Manners; Practice polite, confident behavior in community settings such as parks, stores, and sidewalks. Cooperative Care & Handling; Continue reinforcing calm, voluntary participation for grooming, vet exams, and daily care. Instructor approval required.

Agility Classes

Agility is an exciting and engaging way to strengthen the bond between you and your dog while building confidence, focus, and coordination. Using positive reinforcement and fun, low-pressure exercises, we introduce dogs to tunnels, jumps, and other obstacles in a safe, supportive environment.

Each session focuses on teamwork, clear communication, and trust—helping your dog learn to navigate courses with enthusiasm and confidence. Whether you’re training just for fun or preparing for competition, agility is a fantastic way to channel your dog’s energy, sharpen their mind, and deepen your partnership through play and teamwork.

Sports Prep

This class is for dogs 16 weeks and older. It is designed to build the foundation skills your dog needs to succeed in any dog sport. Through focus games, confidence-building exercises, and early sport foundations, we’ll prepare both handler and dog for future training in agility, rally, obedience, or other performance venues. This class is a pre-requisite for Agility Foundations.

Agility Foundations

This class is for dogs 6 months and older. It is designed to give both dog and handler the essential skills needed to excel in the sport of agility. By focusing on teamwork, communication, and confidence-building. Setting the stage for safe, fun, and successful training. Equipment used in this class: Jump wings/jumps, tunnels, weaves (entry foundations), contacts; Dog Walk plank(s), lowered A-Frame (depending on dogs age and confidence). Instructor approval required.

Novice Agility

This class is for dogs 8 months and older. Novice Agility is designed to help teams build confidence, consistency, and smooth handling in short sequences. This class focuses on essential handling skills, obstacle independence, and communication between handler and dog, setting the foundation for more complex agility challenges. Equipment used in this class: Jump wings/jumps, tunnels, weaves (harder entries and adding in more poles), contacts; Dog Walk plank(s), lowered A-Frame (depending on dogs age and confidence). Instructor approval required.

Intermediate Agility

This class is for dogs 12 months and older. This class builds on novice foundations, focusing on independence, longer sequences, and refinement of handling and obstacle skills. Handlers and dogs will work on teamwork, consistency, and confidence while preparing for full novice/senior-level courses. Equipment used in this class: Jump wings/jumps, tunnels, weaves (6-12 poles), contacts; Dog Walk and full height A-Frame (depending on dogs age and confidence). Instructor approval required.

Advanced Agility

This class is for dogs 18 months and older. This class is designed for teams with solid intermediate skills who are ready to tackle advanced handling challenges, polish obstacle performance, and prepare for competition settings. The focus is on building fluency, independence, and confidence over longer sequences while reinforcing accuracy and speed. Equipment used in this class: Jumps, tunnels, weaves (6-12 poles), contacts; Dog Walk and full height A-Frame (depending on dogs age and confidence). Instructor approval required.

Nosework

Nosework taps into your dog’s natural scenting abilities and transforms it into a fun, confidence-building activity for dogs of all breeds and ages. Using positive reinforcement and a supportive, low-stress environment, dogs learn to search for and identify specific target odors in a variety of settings. Nosework is an incredible way to strengthen your bond, boost your dog’s mental stimulation, and give them an outlet to use their most powerful sense—their nose!

Introduction to Nosework

This class is for dogs 16 weeks and older. This class focuses on developing enthusiasm for searching for food, teaching clear communication between dog and handler, and building your dog’s confidence as they learn to problem-solve independently. This class is a pre-requisite for Multi-Level Nosework.

Multi-level Nosework

This class is for dogs 6 months and older. In this class we will introduce dogs to odor or build on what they already know. You’ll refine handling skills, increase search difficulty, and explore more complex environments and scent puzzles—perfect for those who want to enjoy the sport recreationally or prepare for competition.

Obedience Workshops

Our 8-week Obedience Workshops are designed to focus on specific real-world skills in a small group setting, allowing for personalized coaching and faster progress. With a maximum of 4–6 dogs per class, each team receives plenty of individual attention and hands-on practice using positive reinforcement methods. This is for dogs 16 weeks and older.

Workshops Offered:

  • Rapid Recalls: Build a fast, reliable, and enthusiastic recall through fun games and proven techniques. Perfect for improving off-leash reliability and response around distractions.

  • Loose Leash Walking: Learn how to make walks more enjoyable by teaching your dog to walk calmly and attentively at your side—without pulling.

  • Reactive Rover: For dogs who struggle with reactivity toward people or other dogs, this workshop focuses on building calm behavior, confidence, and focus using positive, force-free methods.

Whether you’re fine-tuning your dog’s manners or addressing specific challenges, our workshops provide focused guidance to help you strengthen communication and teamwork with your dog.

Agility Workshops

Our Agility Workshops are focused, two-hour training sessions designed for teams who want to sharpen specific agility skills in a small, supportive setting. With a maximum of 6 dogs per workshop, each team receives individualized coaching and ample working time.

These single-session workshops allow you to target key areas of your agility training, whether you’re building foundations, refining handling, or preparing for competition. Topics vary by session and may include:

  • Distance & Layering – Strengthen your dog’s independence and obstacle commitment while maintaining connection from a distance.

  • Discriminations – Improve your team’s ability to clearly identify and execute correct obstacle choices under pressure.

  • Weaves – Enhance speed, accuracy, and entry confidence through progressive weave training.

  • Threadles & Backsides – Develop clear communication for complex jumping skills used in modern course design.

  • Games (Snooker, Gamblers/Jackpot/Chances) – Learn strategy, timing, and handling skills for success in games-style classes.

  • Blind Crosses & Advanced Handling – Refine timing and movement to improve flow and efficiency on course.

  • Young Dog Sequencing – Introduce short, age-appropriate sequences to build confidence, focus, and teamwork.

  • UKI & International Coursework – Challenge your handling and dog’s skills on technical, flowing international-style courses.

Workshops are offered at three levels—Foundation, Novice/Intermediate, and Advanced—so every team can find the right challenge and continue progressing at their own pace. Each session emphasizes positive reinforcement, teamwork, and confidence-building to help you and your dog reach your full potential in agility.

Agility Drop-Ins

Our Drop-In Agility Classes are perfect for handlers who want flexible training without committing to a full session. Each class focuses on building confidence, teamwork, and handling skills while introducing or refining obstacle performance. Suitable for dogs familiar with basic obedience or those that have already taken some agility classes or are competing and ready to have fun in a safe, positive environment.
